If You're Traveling Between Maine and Quebec on the Old Canadian National Scenic Byway, The Forks is Worth The Stop
Comfortable Maine Lodging and Dining in The Forks
Whether you are traveling Route 201 to attend Winter Carnival in Quebec City, to look at the beautiful fall foliage, heading to or from Maine's magnificent coast or just out for a scenic ride on the Old Canada Nation Scenic Byway, The Inn By the River is an oasis that can send you on your way relaxed and ready for anything!
The Inn By The River is a AAA rated lodging and dining destination nestled on a hill overlooking The Kennebec and Dead Rivers located along US Route 201, in The Forks Maine. This is a very popular route between the United States and Quebec City. This section of US RT. 201 is called the "Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway". Our location, in The Forks, is approximately 41 miles from the Armstrong-Jackman Border Crossing into the Canadian Province of Quebec. We realize that sometimes our beautiful area is not your final destination, but it is worth a stop! Take some time to look around this peaceful and scenic part of Maine!
If you are headed north to Quebec, we are a good stopping point, since you have most likely been driving from The New York Metro area, Boston or Bar Harbor, or maybe even from as far away as The Maritime Provinces. You can relax before dinner with a drink on our porch that overlooks the beautiful Kennebec River. Our meals are delicious and creative. In the summer-time many of our vegetables are grown and harvested from our very own organic garden-right outside your door.
Many of our rooms face the river, and several have deep whirlpool tubs. In the morning, after a hearty homemade breakfast you will have an easy drive to the border and from there to many points of interest in Canada.
If you are heading south to Maine's beaches or beyond, The Inn By The River is a good place to stop and experience some serious fun in the open air. Our area is famous for its Maine whitewater rafting and also has several short hikes; some easy, some more challenging. The easiest hike is really more like a walk in the woods, where, at the end of a half-mile trail, you will find Maine's Largest waterfall, Moxie Falls, with a drop of more than 90 feet. Other hikes take about half a day and lead to the top of Bald, Pleasant Pond, or Mosquito mountains. These mountains have vistas that will take your breath away. Many hikes in our area are possible in any of the four seasons. There are also several beautiful lakes and ponds for many boating and fishing opportunities.
So if you're headed on through its worth the time to stop and look around. Inn By The River is a Fun Comfortable Place to Stay!
